Letter of Guarantee

Every exchange order comes with a Letter of Guarantee: the order's terms as one plain-text document in the standard Bitcoin Signed Message format, signed with the public address below and available from the moment the order exists. It is the main guarantee behind your order — download it before you pay and keep it.

What the letter guarantees

The letter records the terms betKarma has committed to — never the live status of the order. Which terms it can state depends on how the order is priced.

  1. Fixed-quote order — mixer and Zcash deposits

The rate and the amounts lock when the order is created, so the letter states them at once: direction, locked rate, exact deposit amount, payout amount, service fee, deposit address, recipient and deadline. There is one version of this letter — re-downloading it returns the identical signed text.

  2. Floating-rate order — every cross-asset direction

The rate is not fixed when the order is created, so the letter is issued in two stages.

    1. Before the lock — the pricing contract

Direction, the accepted deposit range, the service fee, the rule that fixes the rate (the live market snapshot at the moment your deposit reaches the required confirmations), what happens below the minimum and above the maximum, deposit address, recipient and deadline. Any amount inside the range is covered: the letter guarantees how your deposit will be priced, not a number.

    2. After the lock — the locked figures

Once the deposit is confirmed the letter is re-issued with the locked rate, the received and payout amounts and the exact lock time, on top of the same contract. Download it again at this point — the second version is the one that states your final numbers.

Re-downloading at the same stage always returns byte-identical text with the same signature; only the lock changes the letter. Keep both versions of a floating-rate letter — each verifies on its own.

Guarantee text

A Letter of Guarantee is valid only when the Bitcoin message signature of its exact text verifies against the address published on this page. The SHA-256 can be used to compare that text byte for byte. A letter without a matching signature is not a betKarma guarantee artifact.

How to verify your letter

You don't need to be a developer. There's a ready-to-use online verifier and a couple of paths for the paranoid.

  1. Download the letter on the order page, click "Download .txt" inside the Letter of Guarantee panel.
  2. Open the online verifier #/letter.html (hosted on GitHub Pages, fully open source, verification runs in your browser — we never see your letter).
  3. Paste the text or upload the file the verifier splits PAYLOAD and SIGNATURE blocks, computes SHA-256, and checks the signature against the published address.

For the paranoid — do it manually

  • Electrum: Tools → Sign/verify message → paste payload, address, and signature.
  • Sparrow Wallet, Bitcoin Core (verifymessage RPC), or any BIP-137 compatible tool for p2wpkh.
  • The address anchor is published in our public audit repository: signing-address.json
